Keynote Address | The Power of Community - How My Albertus Education Has Impacted My Life

Speaker: Jenny (Willets) Rice '05, B.S. in Biology, B.S. in Chemistry

Upon completing her bachelor’s degree, Jenny pursued a master’s degree in Medical Science at Yale University. After spending her entire adult life working in medicine, first as a medical assistant and EMT, and then as a Physician Assistant, Jenny made a bold leap into starting her own consulting business, Integrated with Jenny, where she works with both nonprofits and individuals to help facilitate their short- and long-term goals. Having spent over a decade listening to patient stories of struggle, Jenny now focuses her time and energy on empowering individuals and communities to heal themselves. She currently works as a community organizer in the Valley based ALL IN movement which is making strides toward everyone in their communities having a safe and affordable place to live, access to nutritious food, and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. Jenny’s pivot to social justice work began in 2020 with opening the Little Free Pantry on Skokorat at her home in Seymour, CT. What started as a small operation has turned into a local movement to not only address the growing problem of food insecurity but also challenge the stigma associated with poverty. Jenny has been honored for her work by her town with the Frank and Ann Conroy Community Service Award and by her former employer with the AP Humanitarian of the Year. In her free time, she enjoys reading, yoga, hiking, and Olympic Weightlifting.
