Albertus Magnus College’s 5th Annual Golf Classic Deemed Huge Success

Event Benefits Lifechanging Student Scholarships

New Haven, Conn., July 6, 2023 – It was a beautiful day for golf but it was scholarship dollars that reigned supreme at the 5th Annual Albertus Magnus College Golf Classic. The event was held on June 26, 2023 at the iconic New Haven Country Club in Hamden, Connecticut. This year, the Knights of Columbus and Noble Wealth Advisors of Janney Montgomery Scott were the presenting sponsors.

Thanks to the enormous generosity from the community that included 95 players, the outing garnered more than $90,000 towards essential scholarships for students. Since its inception, this tournament has raised nearly $350,000 in scholarship funds that transform and empower the lives of young people through education. Scholarship support is an institutional priority of Albertus because more than 90-percent of our students receive some form of financial assistance. Scholarships help attract outstanding students, make a college degree more affordable, and allow Albertus students to concentrate more fully on their studies and educational experience.

“The support of this event year after year from alumni, friends, and corporate partners clearly demonstrates the promise of how an Albertus education can transform lives,” said Vice President for Advancement Mary Young ’91. “However, our work doesn’t end here. Continued support is needed to make the dream of an Albertus education, a reality.”

These funds are also essential to continue to make Albertus students and graduates workforce ready. For the past seven consecutive years, Albertus Magnus College graduates have outpaced the national average when it comes to finding jobs or continuing their education within six months after earning their bachelor’s degree. The Class of 2022 alumni achieved a 98-percent success rate -- a new all-time high for the College -- versus the most recent 84-percent national comparison rate, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) First-Destination Survey results. Each of the College’s last seven graduating classes have achieved at least a 95 percent success rate in the important early career success and return on investment metric.
