Albertus Magnus College Signs On To Connecticut Independent College Transfer Guarantee
Provides Pathway from Community College to Four-Year Institutions
Albertus Magnus College is pleased to announce that it is one of eight Connecticut four-year independent institutions that has signed on to the Connecticut Independent College Transfer Guarantee, also known as the Connecticut Guarantee. Word comes on the heels of the New England Board of Higher Education’s (NEBHE) statement that includes all 12 of the state’s community colleges are part of this agreement.
The Connecticut Guarantee is supported by grants from the Teagle Foundation and the Davis Education Foundation. This is a statewide effort to establish a systematic transfer between Connecticut’s community colleges and four-year independent institutions that focus on a liberal arts education.
NEBHE, its partners (including the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC), of which Albertus is a member) and the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) are co-signers to a memorandum of agreement.
“This contract provides a seamless approach and makes it easier for students who have earned an associate degree to be accepted and transfer to a four-year liberal arts institution like Albertus as they further a deeper and more holistic understanding and approach to their chosen major,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sean P. O’Connell. “We look forward to building upon the strong foundation that has been established as the students pursue their dreams.”
Albertus is accepting transfer applications as soon as January 2021 for guaranteed admission. Admission application fees will be waived for Connecticut Guarantee applicants. In addition to guaranteed admission, transfer applicants will have the option to take advantage of financial aid tailored to community college graduates and clearly defined transfer pathways that align with the existing Transfer Ticket pathways. In other words, students will not lose credits or be required to take additional credits in order to complete their four-year degree.
“NEBHE is very pleased to work with a distinguished group of state and institutional partners to create expanded transfer pathways for students in Connecticut,” said NEBHE President and CEO Michael K. Thomas. “Stronger links between our two-year institutions and our outstanding independent colleges and universities simply makes sense. The Connecticut Guarantee will expand the range of available high-quality, affordable bachelor’s degree programs benefiting our students, our institutions, and our workforce.”
