Albertus Magnus College Once Again Named Top 10 Military Friendly School
Honor Bestowed Upon State’s First Purple Heart School
New Haven, Conn., March 2, 2021 – Albertus Magnus College is pleased to announce that it has been named a Top 10 Military Friendly School for 2021-2022 by the Military Friendly Schools Survey, a testament to the programs the College
has created for the military community. The survey is the longest-running and most
comprehensive review of college and university investments in serving military and
veteran students. The designation is a result of extensive research in which the
College met or exceeded benchmarks and access to federal programs for veterans. This
is the third time Albertus has achieved Top 10 status and sixth time to make the overall
list.
“Along with Study, Prayer, and Community, Service is one of the four foundational
pillars forming the core of our Catholic identity and Dominican mission at Albertus,
where the values and liberal arts-based education we offer prepares graduates for
a lifetime of professional success and civic engagement,” said Albertus Magnus College
President Dr. Marc M. Camille. “The Top 10 Military Friendly recognition supports
our commitment to meeting the education needs of those who serve in the U.S. Armed
Forces.”
“What a proud distinction this is for Albertus. In 2019, we were recognized as Connecticut’s
first Purple Heart College by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, an organization
that provides services and support for combat veterans. These combined and consistent
honors are great initiatives to show the surrounding community that we’re a military
friendly school,” said Tom Noonan, Veterans Liaison at Albertus, who also noted that
Albertus received the Military and Veteran Humanitarian Award in 2019 from the Quinnipiac
Chamber of Commerce.
This is the latest in a series of acknowledgements that Albertus has earned this academic
year, in which it celebrates its 95th anniversary. Other distinctions include comes
the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education 2021 College Rankings where Albertus has now appeared two years in a row among the prestigious group of
797 institutions nationwide selected for inclusion; US News & World Report’s 2021 college rankings named Albertus a Top 100 Regional University in the North and featured it among the
top performers in four additional categories: Best Value, Best for Veterans, Top
Performers on Social Mobility, and Best Undergraduate Teaching; and lastly, the College
is included among Money’s 2020 Best Colleges in America, ranked by value.
