Albertus Magnus College Holds Seventh Annual Day of Service

Will Receive Founders’ Award from Marrakech for Embracing Community and Service

New Haven, Conn., April 7, 2025 Albertus Magnus College thrives in living by its Four Dominican Pillars of Study,  Prayer, Community, and Service. In dedication to service to others, Albertus students, faculty, and staff volunteer in  record numbers for its Seventh Day of Service — a way to give back to the New Haven community by helping  others grow and prosper while building a sense of purpose.  

This year, in recognition to social responsibility, Albertus is deeply honored to receive the Founders’ Award from  Marrakech — which provides person-centered and unique human services for individuals with and without  disabilities throughout Connecticut — through housing, employment, support, and advocacy.  

Who: 200 volunteers — all Albertus students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Welcome and Award Presentation
Where: Atrium of Tagliatela Academic Center before dispersing to 26 outdoor and indoor sites.
When: Thursday, April 10, 2025
8:30 a.m. check-in, award presentation, and blessing;
9:00 a.m. travel to locations;
12:00 p.m. lunch and reflection.

Once again, this year’s event is a commitment to our environmental stewardship and giving back to our community at large.  

Participants then go to their site placements which include: New Haven Peace Garden; Botanical Garden of  Healing; Ronald McDonald House; Amistad Catholic Worker House; Habitat for Humanity; Dinner 4 A Dollar; Eli  Whitney Museum & Workshop; Marrakech; URI Spruel Pocket Park; There’s No Place Like Home; Edgerton Park;  East Rock Park; St. Stanislaus Convent; St. Mary’s Convent; St. Martin De Porres Church; New Haven Reads; Rockford  Field; Mobile Food Pantry; Albertus Community Garden & Contemplative Garden; Albertus Rosary Hall/Celentano  Field; 490 Prospect/Albertus Perimeter & Grounds’ Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen (DESK); City Seed; 100 Lunches  for Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen (indoor); Mobile Food Pantry (indoor); Cards for the Homebound (indoor).
