Description | Ruby Hsu (she/her) is the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants. She was born in New Haven along with her older brother, David and identifies as Taiwanese-American. She is a wife to a loving husband, and a mother to two active boys, Benjamin and Alexander. She loves cultivating their curiosity and watching them discover the world. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling, trying new foods and being out in nature. Ruby graduated from UConn with her BS and MA in elementary education and has a 6th year degree in Foundational Reading from SCSU. She has been an educator for over 17 years in Wallingford and Hartford. She was named Teacher of the Year in Wallingford in 2010 and is a 2012 alumni of the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy. She has taught grades 4, 5, K-5 reading and math intervention in CT and grade 4 in Ifrane, Morocco, where she met her husband, Hassan. Ruby has also taught and developed STEM curriculum with CT STEM Academy and most recently led workshops centered around social justice in STEM education. Ruby has a passion for sparking curiosity in children and giving them a platform to use their voice. |
