ANNOUNCING ALBERTUS MAGNUS COLLEGE'S PRESIDENT
Dr. Marc M. Camille, Ed.D.

March 20, 2017

Dear Members of the Albertus Magnus College Community,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it is my privilege to announce the appointment of Marc M. Camille, Ed.D., as the 14th president of Albertus Magnus College. Dr. Camille was elected by a unanimous vote of the Board and will assume his appointment on June 30, 2017. He currently serves as vice president for enrollment management and communications at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore.

Dr. Camille’s compelling articulation of his personal connection to our rich history, built upon Catholic values and traditions and grounded in our Dominican charism, resonated deeply with the Search Committee and Board of Trustees. Dr. Camille expressed his abiding commitment to creating opportunities enabling more students access to transformative educational experiences. Throughout his nearly 28-year career at private and Catholic institutions, Dr. Camille has demonstrated strong leadership, merging his commitment to the liberal arts tradition with the discipline of vision and administrative expertise.

Dr. Camille follows in the footsteps of President Emerita Dr. Julia M. McNamara who for more than 34 years led the College with extraordinary service, leadership and commitment. And over this past year of transition, we have been blessed by the selfless dedication of Sr. Anne Kilbride, O.P. We remain indebted to Dr. McNamara and Sister Anne and to the Presidential Search Committee. The Committee whose members were carefully selected to represent all areas of our College community served as true ambassadors for the College. Throughout the search, their thoughtful deliberations were imbued with excitement and shared optimism for Albertus and its future.

Dr. Camille received an A.B. in English from Rollins College (FL), an M.A. in Liberal Studies from University of Miami (FL), and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Management from University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Camille’s doctoral dissertation examined the relationship between institutional religious affiliation and college students’ achievements, such as scholarly learning and student engagement.

Prior to his 11 years at Loyola University Maryland, Dr. Camille served as the dean of admission and financial aid for Xavier University (OH) and also worked for University of Miami and Mount Ida College (MA). In addition to his extensive expertise in enrollment management and marketing, Dr. Camille brings diverse experience in mission-driven institutional leadership, including strategic planning, advancement and fundraising, new academic program research, intercollegiate athletics, and institutional accreditation. Dr. Camille is the proud father of two children, Katie and Ryan. He will relocate to the New Haven area this summer.

I invite you to learn more about President-elect Camille, and to share your messages of welcome on our presidential welcome site.

Along with the Board of Trustees, please join me in welcoming Dr. Camille to our Albertus community.

With gratitude,
