The Honors Program at Albertus Magnus College
The Honors Program prepares Albertus students to excel academically while exposing them to a variety of cultural opportunities in and around New Haven, Connecticut. Honors students at Albertus have a supportive environment of peers and professors that challenge them to achieve their academic and professional goals.

Honors Program President
Honors students may participate in regional and national conferences, community outreach and internship opportunities, and multiple leadership roles on campus. Personalized academic advising is provided by our Honors Program Co-Directors, Dr. Kristen DeCarli and Dr. Jennifer Dealy. Honors Program students will be awarded the Catherine de'Ricci Scholarship Award upon acceptance into the program. This annual $2,000 scholarship is renewable for up to four years for Honors Program students who remain in good standing. The connections fostered while in the Honors Program are lasting bonds, making the Albertus experience memorable, enjoyable, and rewarding.
Eligibility & Requirements
Students who are admitted to Albertus Magnus College and have achieved at least one of the following qualifications are invited to apply to the Honors Program:
- GPA of 3.75 or higher
- SAT/PSAT score of 1200 or higher
- ACT score of 25 or higher
Students who meet the criteria will be eligible for admission to the program, and its associated scholarship.
The Albertus Magnus College Honors Program, aligned with the Four Pillars of the Dominican Tradition of Study, Prayer, Community, and Service, offers valuable and practical opportunities for ambitious undergraduate students. At Albertus, we offer extensive Honors options such as: robust course selections; the Aquinas Scholars Program; faculty-student collaborative research; and support for students applying for nationally-competitive scholarships.
In order to graduate from the Honors Program, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75 and complete all academic and enrichment requirements, including Honors Projects in a variety of courses.
Students who are not invited into the Honors Program upon admission into the College (or were invited but did not accept the invitation at that time) may apply for admission into the program after one semester at the College. Eligible students, with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher, may apply to the Honors Program after completing one semester at Albertus Magnus College.
Students who meet the criteria will be eligible for admission to the program and can submit an application to the Co-Directors for membership as well as the program scholarship.

- Opening-Day Registration As an Honors student, you are eligible to register on the opening-day of registration for classes each semester.

- Hard Work Pays Off Honors Program participants enjoy perks during their time at Albertus and receive recognition during the Laurel Awards and Commencement exercises.

- Scholarships A renewable scholarship is available for each student accepted into the Honors Program. Students who remain in good standing in the program are eligible to receive the Catherine de’ Ricci Award, a $2,000 scholarship; renewable for up to four years.
Honors Program Activities
While in the Honors Program, Albertus students engage in experiential opportunities and leadership roles, both on and off campus. Students not only achieve academic excellence, but embody all aspects of the Four Dominican Pillars. Honors Program opportunities include:
Albertus Abroad
Students from the Honors Program have gotten the chance to go abroad, traveling to Fanjeaux, France with representatives from other Dominican colleges and universities. There, they studied the history and charism of the Dominican Order in the town where St. Dominic once lived. They also traveled throughout the region to various sites of historical importance in both French and Catholic Dominican history.
In general, all students from Albertus Magnus College have the opportunity to study abroad during their academic career. Albertus offers Study Abroad opportunities through three different programs and reaching at least 19 countries. There are specific requirements that need to be met in order for students to successfully prepare for Study Abroad and students can work with the college’s Office of Career and Professional Development to plan for this amazing opportunity.
