Centennial Breakout Sessions — Celebrating Our History

  1. Windows in the Mind: Symbols in the St. Albert Atrium
    Place- Atrium, Tagliatela Center
    Presenter- Carolyn Behan Kraus
    Description- Participants will learn about the environmental design of the Atrium. Designed by Randall E. Hoyt and inspired by the writings of St. Albert in theology, philosophy, and the natural sciences, this session will unlock the secrets of the Atrium floor.
  2. Traditions- Important Moments in History
    Place- Tagliatela Center- Room 212
    Presenter- Joan E. Venditto ‘63, Dianna Macchiaverna Colman ‘70, Giovanni Duaqui ‘96, Briana Jenkins ‘12, Jason Howell ‘20.
    Description- Alumni will share meaningful moments in their Albertus experience.
  3. Albertus at the Crossroads: 1985
    Place- Tagliatela Center, Room 113
    Presenter- Ross Edwards, Christina Byrd, Samantha Pannone, Christine Atkins, Tarishi Verma, Jon Sozek.
    Description- In this simulation, we will recreate the 1985 debate around whether Albertus should become a co-ed institution.

  1. Moments of Transformation
    Place- Tagliatela Center- Room 113
    Presenter- Catie White, Deborah Frattini, Erin Morrell, Jerome Nevins, and Sean O’Connell.
    Description- This session brings together panelists who have collectively experienced 58 years of Albertus history.
  2. Dominican Saints
    Place- St. Catherine of Siena Chapel, Walsh Hall
    Presenter- Owen Griswold, Dominic Borelli, Joshua Cooper, Valeria Estrada, Christi-Lynne Levesque, Raima Shalokh, Sr. Cathy Buchanan, O.P.
    Description- A portrayal of Dominican Saints by students who attended the Dominican Preaching Conference, will highlight the lives and impact of key members of the Dominican Order, who lived the pillars: study, prayer, community, service.
  3. Breakwater Through the Years
    Place- Tagliatela Center- Room 212
    Presenter- Lauren Parisi, Matthew Sheehan, Emili Dubar-Conroy, Alicia DelAmedia, Aliah Pierre, Rachael Burnstein, Kaitlin D’Agostino, Sarah Wallman.
    Description- This session will focus on the history and pieces from Breakwater, from its founding in 1972 to present day.
