NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 2, 2013) Senior Amanda Roke (Cheshire, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team has been named the month of September Female Student-Athlete of the Month.
Roke leads the Falcons with four goals and four assists for 12 points since the Falcons' season-opener. She is averaging 2.30 shots per game and 1.10 points per game.
Roke was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week on Sept. 10 after leading the Falcons with two goals and two assists for nine points in the Falcons' 2-0-1 unbeaten week back in early September. She also scored the game-winning goal in the Falcons' 1-0 win over MCLA on Saturday, Sept. 7 as she finished on a penalty kick.
Additionally, in an 8-0 win at Bay Path she registered two assists and one goal for the Falcons. She has also been named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll, which was on Sept. 4.
Roke is currently tied for fourth place in the GNAC with 12 points on the season.
The Falcons are 5-3-2 overall on the year as of Sept. 30 and are 2-1 in league action.
Roke and the Falcons are set to host Mount Ida College on Wednesday, Oct. 2 for a 4:00 p.m. GNAC match-up before welcoming Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday, Oct. 5 for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 2, 2013) Senior Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team has been named the month of September Male Student-Athlete of the Month.
Piroscafo has started in all eight games this season for the Falcons and has registered 44 saves. His 44 stops mark a high for the senior in the first eight contests of the season.
Since their first contest of the season, Piroscafo has played 718:20 minutes in net for the Falcons as he has played in 72 straight contests.
Piroscafo and the Falcons travel to Western Connecticut State on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference match-up before hosting Rivier University on Saturday, Oct. 5 in a 3:15 p.m. contest.
